The New York City Ballet has always had strong ties with fashion. Last January, dancers modeled for Puma's popular ballet-inspired collection and back during Opening Ceremony's fall 2016 show, the ballerinas walked the runway and "fell" into a choreographed routine. Now, the company's ballerinas have been tapped by MM.LaFleur for its summer campaign.

Three dancers–Georgina Pazcoguin, Unity Phelan, and Alexa Maxwell choreographed by Claudia Schreier–play women at work who suddenly break out into dance wearing the '60s sportswear-inspired collection dubbed "The Light Fantastic."

"Collaborating with ballerinas was a long-held dream of ours, and given the name of the collection, this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Ballet and workwear might not be the most intuitive pairing, but at MM.LaFleur, we are always out to defy stereotypes about what it means to be a working woman," Tory Hoen, Creative Director of Brand at MM.LaFleur, tells ELLE.com, "In this video, we wanted to explore who this woman is on the surface—a polished professional typing away at her desk—and then who she is in her inner life."

The collaboration is meant to showcase just how wearable and lightweight the office-appropriate designs are beyond work–crucial for after-hours on summer days.

"For our jobs, we wear many costumes that are actually quite hard to dance in—unlike this dress, which feels like a second skin. It moves with you, it's breathable, and it doesn't fight you in any way," Phelan, one of the dancers, added. Watch the fun video, below:
