An Iranian school teacher has been fired from her job for playing a " vulgar " song in class and for sharing the video of the children singing on social media.

The video of the children singing the song Gangster Shahr Amol in a private school in the northern city of Qaimshahr went viral on social media.

The song is a Persian pop music piece that has gained popularity in recent weeks. The lyrics include “I'll drink alcohol, I'll get drunk.”

Children's rights activists said that sharing of such videos on social media was a violation of the rights of children because it exposed their images to the public.

They also argued that the song had "inappropriate" lyrics for the children’s age.

Hossein Kamali, the General Director of Education in Mazandaran province, confirmed the teacher's dismissal and said that the school principal received a written warning.

Kamali emphasized that private schools should follow educational policies when carrying out their activities, as they “bear a significant responsibility for education in Mazandaran.”

The Supervisory Council, responsible for examining the activities of private schools, has called a meeting to discuss whether to revoke the school's license.
