Fitness Blogger Posts Viral Instagram to Prove Social Media Isn't Always What It Seems to Be

"Your body is not the enemy."

When it comes to Instagram, not all the pictures that show up on our feeds are as perfect as they may appear to be. Whether it's finding the right angle or applying a filter that can leave your skin looking hashtag-flawless, it's easy to manipulate photos, and one fitness blogger posted a viral photo to prove just that.

Louise Aubery used her Instagram platform to demonstrate how one angle can make all the difference when it comes to taking a photo. In an image posted on May 10, Louise captured herself from two different directions, and explained that each have the "perfect body." In the accompanying caption she opened up about her motivation for creating the post, writing: "When I started working out, I had these...expectations on the body I hoped / wanted to get. Finally, I will get a thigh gap, a flat stomach, and no more cellulite !! Because that’s how a healthy body is perceived. Because people make you think is it not normal to have it. But you know what ? It is. Yes, I still store fat on my stomach. Yes, I still have cellulite. And yes, I am still healthy. Remember one thing : your body is NOT the enemy."

In an e-mail interview with Cosmopolitan, the motivational fitness blogger shared the impact that social media can have on someone's vision of the perfect body. "I get that we all want to show ourselves in the best light on social media," she wrote. "But I feel like it's necessary to show the 'normal' and even 'bad' light to help deconstruct the unreachable standards that have been set by social media."

Louise makes a great point. There's nothing wrong with wanting to post the perfect selfie or using your Instagram as a way to share fitness goals, but it's also good to accept and love yourself for who you are. Be proud of the person you are, and embrace every part of you, whether you're sharing a selfie that shows off your blemishes like Lili Reinhart or removing all the filters and going totally untouched like Selena Gomez.
